Bianco Development
Consolidation of manufacturing facilities for the Bianco group onto a single master planned site. Structural steel manufacturing, commercial offices, building supplies, construction equipment showrooms and transportable hire buildings were relocated from other sites. A total FECA of over 40,000 M2 was proposed over two stages.
This project comprises the redevelopment of a major site between Main North Road and Port Wakefield Road, Gepps Cross. The master planned development included wetlands, landscaped parks and gardens, car parking and consolidated the client’s facilities which were located at 3 separate sites.
Best practice WSUD principles were incorporated and the project brief stipulated that all ESD initiatives would be investigated, and where feasible, incorporated within the development.
The first stage of the site development delivered a 12,000 M2 state-of-the-art, fully computerised structural steel manufacturing building with corporate offices and a separate processing, wash and storage facility for the processing of site sheds, plant and construction hire equipment.
The structural steelwork building featured a 200 metre long “high bay” building with 60-metre spans and gantries with fully accessible feature trafficable and glazed “box trusses” which allowed visitors to view the manufacturing floor below.
Contemporary staff facilities, office areas and recreation spaces for employees were included.
The architectural expression of these significant buildings is defined by fully expressed structural steel exoskeletons and a mix of full-height high performance frameless IGU curtain walls to the office building and a combination of Brighton-lite finished precast concrete panel walls and prefinished metal cladding.
A feature element is the large-boxed steel stair stringer which protrudes through the double height point-fixed glass facade as an entry statement and an example of the longest continuous steel section that can be fabricated by the workshop.
Other external materials and finishes, and the built form qualities respond to the urban context and setting and have also been selected due to their durability and low maintenance features.
