Lyell McEwin Hospital 48-Bed Expansion

Enhancing Inpatient Care: New 48-Bed Expansion

Building on the recent completion of the Lyell McEwin Hospital Emergency Department upgrades, this transformative project marks a significant milestone in the ongoing evolution of the hospital’s infrastructure. The development introduces an additional floor above the existing Inpatient Building, delivering approximately 5,900 square metres of state-of-the-art clinical space dedicated to enhancing patient care and operational capacity.

The new floor houses two modern 24-bed inpatient wards, providing a total of 48 single-occupancy rooms, each with its own ensuite, designed to promote dignity, privacy, and infection control. The diverse accommodation types reflect a commitment to inclusive, responsive healthcare, featuring Bariatric rooms to support patients with complex mobility needs, Dementia-friendly rooms to aid cognitive comfort and orientation, Isolation rooms for infection containment, and Hardened rooms to safely manage patients requiring a high level of supervision and care.

Purposefully designed to deliver advanced clinical functionality in a therapeutic environment, this development supports the hospital's mission to provide compassionate, high-quality care in facilities that are both resilient and future-ready.
