Gawler Green Shopping Centre
The Gawler Green Shopping Centre transformed an undeveloped greenfield site in Evanston, South Australia, into a vibrant retail hub.
The site's natural slope provided an opportunity for on-ground parking, a key design feature that addressed the growing demand for parking in the area without requiring extensive excavation.
Stage 1, covering approximately 6,000 square metres of retail space, was designed to accommodate essential services and offer a convenient shopping experience for residents. The Centre’s anchor tenant, Coles, attracted substantial foot traffic, while Hungry Jack’s provided fast food. A diverse range of specialty shops, including local businesses, fashion outlets, health and beauty services, and cafes, rounded out the retail offering.
The onground parking allowed surface-level space for pedestrian-friendly areas, green spaces, and additional retail development. This solution reduced surface congestion while providing easy access to the Centre in an open, well-designed environment. The parking area was designed for convenience and safety with clear signage and easy access ramps.
Stage 1 was carefully planned with expansion for Stage 2 and Stage 3 in mind.
