WCH Gilbert Building Extension

This innovative and challenging project created much-needed additional space for clinical and research activities through a new three level extension to an operational existing building in the heart of a densely-developed hospital site. 

A key achievement was the delivery of three new floors and cantilevered floorplates to a building originally designed to accommodate only two. This 40% of additional floor area was made possible through an integrated lightweight structural and building envelope approach.

A modulated design allowed construction within the confined site without disruption to health services and the effective project delivery has received formal construction industry recognition.
